Tempest Post-Scene Interview

It’s important in understanding the world of the play to discuss and share ideas as you make your discoveries. Here, you witness the discussion between the actor and director, putting the scene into context with the notion of ‘Kingmakers’. You’ll also notice that the director doesn’t ‘instruct’ the actors what to do next but instead gives them open direction around the idea of ‘puppets in strings’. In doing so, he allows the actors to play and create rather than be the puppets of his own singular imagination. Working in a similar way will enable your actors to find natural, instinctive acting decisions that come from the text and ensembles notion of the world of the play.
