You can use improvised vocal sound to influence the discovery of the world of the play. Here, the actors in the cast voiced eery, discordant sounds to aid the actors working on the scene. By creating the atmosphere in the description of the island in Shakespeare’s text, the actors in the scene had a ‘soundtrack’ to support their rehearsal. You can see that it also influenced their movement to give them ideas of how they could physicalize their internal reactions. You might choose to use other sounds, percussion, found sounds, recorded sounds… it’s up to you!
